Technical Services Support Manager
Downtown City Center in Oakland, CA
We are seeking a Technical Services Support Managers to oversee and manage the implementation of iParadigms' enterprise software services in major accounts. This position will work closely with both the Inside Account Managers and Field based Regional Sales Managers. Account base is comprised of school districts, colleges and universities in North America.
Your role:
- Assist Sales Team and Clients pre and post sale with implementation and adoption strategies.
- Managing resolution of technical issues for a distinct set of clients. Clients are system administrators who provide mission critical services via our enterprise software in a wide variety of learning institutions.
- Troubleshooting complex software applications. Issues to be resolved require a broad range of troubleshooting skills related to: system functionality, application server setup, database management, data analysis, and operating system configuration.
- Providing excellent client management inclusive of excellent communications, responsive follow through, and advocacy for client issues within internal departments. The TSM will analyze trends associated with the assigned customer base and report potential areas of risk or reward to Product Management. Success criteria are highly focused on customer satisfaction levels.
- Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively manages the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels. This includes ownership of the data entered into the CRM system and appropriately updating both client and appropriate iParadigms employees of status of all issues on a timely basis.
- Collaborating extensively with peers, Product Engineers, Product Management, and Account Managers to resolve client issues while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available to our clients.
- First level system administration of client environments including: Tracking all changes and working with our internal teams to ensure optimal performance and response times.
- Analyzing technical trends with our solutions and provide appropriate feedback to Engineering Services and Product Management.
To succeed you will need…
- BA/BS degree required.
- 3 - 5 yrs. experience in a customer service, customer support or Inside Sales.
- Ability to handle high volume of accounts, multi-task and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Experience selling web based services in the Education environment preferred.
- Quality writing skills, excellent phone presence, and professional manner.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce.com CRM.
- Working knowledge of computers and general software applications.

Web Application Engineer

Required Experience & Skills
- 4+ years building large scale AJAX applications with Javascript libraries such as jQuery, MooTools, YUI, or SproutCore
- Several years professional experience programming with two or more of Perl, PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, C, C++
- Expert-level fluency in Javascript, HTML, & CSS, and strong beliefs about proper semantics
- Experience tuning web application performance (client-side and server-side)
- Extensive understanding the Apache web server and its configuration
- Expert-level familiarity with the HTTP protocol
- Understanding of cross-browser issues and how to solve or obviate them
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- Practical familiarity with relational databases and the SQL language
- Undergraduate degree or higher (preferably, but not necessarily, in computer science)
Desired Skills
- Specific professional experience with Perl & the Catalyst framework
- Specific experience with the SproutCore Javascript framework
- Experience with Postgres SQL
- Experience with academic environments and academicians beyond your experiences as a student
- Experience with localization and internationalization strongly desired

Release Engineer, Web Systems
Downtown City Center in Oakland, CA
As a member of the iParadigms web systems team, the successful candidate will work with development, QA, and project management to coordinate and conduct releases. Duties will include maintaining and improving the existing build/release system, deploying code to production and test environments, and managing code branches.
The right person for the job will be proactive and very detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills and have a passion for intelligent scripts and reliable processes. Most importantly, you'll be a self-starter who can find creative solutions and ways to improve existing processes.
To succeed you will need…
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years experience in release engineering
- Familiar with building and deploying web applications in a production environment
- Experienced with managing automated builds and deployments to multiple QA environments
- Highly proficient in one or more scripting languages
- Strong familiarity with version control systems, esp. Subversion
- Proficient with SQL, experienced with relational databases
- Very proficient with working in a Linux environment
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills

Software Engineer, Web Systems Development
Downtown City Center in Oakland, CA
As a member of the iParadigms web systems team, the successful candidate will contribute to product development, as well as the architecture and management of the web server farm. Duties may involve developing new features, solving performance-related issues, deploying code, and investigating support issues with current products.
The right person for the job will be proactive and very detail-oriented, and have a passion for reusable code, intelligent scripts, data abstraction, and scalable systems. Most importantly, you'll be a self-starter who can find creative solutions to difficult problems. You'll work on building complex, highly available systems, implementing new technologies and architectures, and improving the speed and performance of the web systems.
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years experience with object-oriented Perl, PHP, and/or Java
- Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript
- Proficient with SQL, experienced with relational databases and schema design
- Very proficient with working in a Linux environment
