Melissa Lipscomb

Melissa Lipscomb

Co-founder, Advisor & former CFO

Melissa Lipscomb is a co-founder of iParadigms and has previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. She also managed the Company's UK operations from 2002 to 2004. Ms. Lipscomb worked in the nonprofit and not-for-profit sectors, most notably for Jerry Brown, who was then the head of an Oakland-based non-profit organization, We The People. Prior to the inception of iParadigms, she held a position within UC Berkeley's Finance administration in procurements, disbursements and grant accounting. Ms. Lipscomb earned dual degrees in English and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.


Max-Emmanuel Briand

Max-Emmanuel Briand is one of the founding members of iParadigms and has been the company's Chief Information Officer (CIO) since its inception. Mr. Briand created and built the company's network topology and operating system configuration. He currently manages the company's Information Technology Department and its co-location facility staff. Mr. Briand is also the company's media spokesperson for the French and French-speaking nations' press, having been interviewed extensively by publications such as France's Figaro and Le Monde, and Quebec, Canada's public radio programs.

Mr. Briand received a degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has worked in a variety of industries, from the travel-writing business to systems administration management at Silicon Valley startups. He brings solid IT experience to the team's technology management team, and has been instrumental in brokering the company's partnerships with key IT companies throughout the Bay Area.

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Haights Cross Communications

Ronald Schlosser is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Haights Cross Communications (HCC), a premier educational and library information company. Previously, Ron was a Senior Advisor to Providence Equity Partners and Chairman of several education and information services portfolio companies. Ron served as the Chief Executive Officer of the $2.5 billion Thomson Learning Group where he led businesses with over 5,500 employees in the global higher education, library reference, and lifelong learning markets. He holds an MBA Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a B.S. from Rider University.


Steven Berger

Steven Berger is a past President and Chairman of the iParadigms LLC. Steven has over 30 years experience as owner, President and CEO of various private companies including New York Fabrics (sold to JoAnn Stores), NYF Properties and iParadigms. He has been an investor and advisor to various early stage companies, often leading early stage investment rounds and serving on the board of directors. These companies include AngelPoints, Home Comfort Zones, UserTesting, MicroPower and Alight, among others. He also serves as Chairman of The Chief Executive Roundtable, a local group of CEO’s. He has had a long interest in education, serving as a math coach for competitions, mentor for an entrepreneurial class at UC Berkeley, and has served on the Board of College Preparatory School. Mr. Berger also serves as Chairman of The Partners Program, a non-profit educational organization providing free academically challenging summer programs and more for underserved Oakland middle school youth. Mr. Berger is a graduate of Stanford University.

Paul Mattison

Chief FInancial Officer, MLM Information Services

Paul Mattison is currently chief financial officer of MLM Information Services, a leading provider of corporate tax software solutions. Previously, Paul served as CFO for Marketwatch (Nasdaq: MKTW) which was acquired by Dow Jones. Paul has held operating and financial leadership roles at a number of companies, including Fame Information Services, Thomson Tax and Accounting Group, and Faulker & Gray. He began his career as an accountant with Price Waterhouse and KPMG. Paul received his BA from City of London Polytechnic and his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
